ABSTRACT
Now days, there are many Public and Private School in
Indonesia. Sometimes, parents are confused in choosing between both schools for
their children and they need consideration. They will find the way to differentiate those schools strength and weaknesses. Therefore, in this paper we will discuss differences
between Public School and Private School.
Keywords: Public School, Private School, differences
INTRODUCTION
“Banyak anak banyak rezeki”
Do you ever heard this word? I am sure your answer is
yes, you do. We often hear this word from our ancestor even
our parents. They believe this
word is true but in now days is this word still used?. There are two answers yes or no. People who answer yes cause of they still believe in their ancestor but for those who answer no
cause they face the reality. Now days all things are expensive included education.
Therefore, parents will find out the best school for their children according
to their capability. In Indonesia, there are two kinds of education, public
school and private school. We will know the differences between them but we
must know the definition first.
Public schools get their financing from local, state,
and federal government funds. While, Private schools rely on tuition payments and funds
from nonpublic sources such as religious organizations, endowments, grants, and
charitable donations. (Boland, Maureen). Based on this statement, I can
conclude that Public School is covered by government while Private School is
covered by their own institution.
After we know the definition, I believe you are more
curious and want to know more about them since you will consider which one is
match with your condition or desire. There are three differences between Public
School and Private School which will be discussed in next chapter.
DISCUSSION
These differences consist of the strength and
weaknesses. It becomes the consideration of parents to choose school for their
children.
1. Cost
The first difference is cost. In public school the
cost is free especially for elementary and secondary except The Pioneering of
International Standard School and for
senior high school in public school cost is cheaper than in private school. The
Pioneering of International Standard School cost is expensive since they have
obligation to give excellent service and facilities for their learning process.
While, private school, elementary, secondary or even senior
high school cost usually is more expensive and above the average. It is caused
by private school have their own vision and mission. They have obligation to
fulfill facilities and services for students, same like public school but private
school is still lack fund since there are some need that they must fulfill by
themselves. Therefore, they need more fund to increase their services and
facilities by asked high costs from each student.
2. Facilities
Public and private school have difference also in
serving facilities. Private school serve
better facilities than public school since they have more much money from their
students while public school is covered by government.
Cost to serve facilities such as air conditioner,
laptop, etc need much money. Public school can
not serve it for their
students while to ask extra cost to parents is forbid by the government. It
differ from private school which have enough fund to serve high quality
facilities for all students. These services are not only for inside the class but outside such as basketball stadium even school buses.
3.
Teacher Caring
Teacher i public and private school is similar, most
of their minimal education background are S1 and some of them are S2
graduation. Care of teachers to students is the difference between those
school.
The number of students in Public School is more than in Private School. In Public
School, one room consist of 40 students while in Private School just consist of
20-30 students. The number of students is influencing towards teacher caring.
In Public School usually they just remember the smartest students or the naughtiest
students. While the rest students are less caring. (Sangdedi: 2010)
How about in Private School, they more pay attention
to their students. It is caused by the ideal number of students, so teacher
know more about most of their students not only the smartest students or the naughtiest
students. Teacher can understand the characteristics of each student.
CONCLUSION
There are two
kinds of schools, Public and Private School. Public School is covered by
government while Private School is covered by their own institution. Three are
differences between Public
and Private School which consist of their own strength and weaknesses. First,
It is about cost, how the cost in Public School and Private School, the Public
School is the cheaper one. Second, Private School serves better facilities than Public School. Third, it is the last point, teacher caring, Private School have better teacher
caring than Public School. Those things become a consideration for parents to
choose school for their children. Each parent has their own urge, they know
which is the best for their children future.
